We are pleased to report that Love for Kumamoto in LA has been able to raise $58,906.08( ¥8,799,083 as of 2023) to the disaster affected areas in Kumamoto since 2016. We continue our activity. Thank you once again for your continuous support.

Nanka Kumamoto Kenjinkai, Kumamoto prefectural organization of Southern California, was able to raise $2,000 to the Kumamoto disaster recovery fund of the prefectural office in Japan. (We received the donation from Mikaela Kai Flamenco Dance academy in June) This money was sent to the capital office of Kumamoto for supporting the construction of the Children's Library designed by world famous architect Tadao Ando. The library will open in April, 2024.
2000ドルを熊本復興支援とし熊本県に寄付いたしました。(お金は６月にミカエラカイフラメンコから寄付されたもの）寄付はすでに熊本県庁に送られ、２０２４年４月に開館が予定されているこども図書館の建築費用の一部に当てられます。図書館は世界的に著名な建築家の安藤忠雄が日本の被災地に建築しているもので熊本は４番目の施設となり、復興と未来を背負う子供たちに願いを込めて建築されています。

In order to support the recovery of Kumamoto Prefecture since the devastating earthquake in April 2016, the volunteer group LOVE FOR KUMAMOTO in LA-Together, Stand for Japan! has planned and carried out various charity activities. On May 28,2016, we were able to hold a charity event in Gardena due to the generosity of Mazak Corporation, who allowed us to use their premises as the venue for the event. A total of approximately 500 people including volunteers attended the event, and we raised a total of $13,500, which was sent to Kumamoto Prefecture through the Japan Prefectural Association of Southern California. Later in the year, we held a seminar event and a charity potluck, and after, we requested for donations in a flamenco show, koto music concert, Hinokuni Matsuri event, raising another $14,373 which were again donated through the Prefectural Association.
Since the establishment of the volunteer group, we have sent more than $58K(over 8 million yen) to Kumamoto.
熊本支援ボランティアグループLOVE FOR KUMAMOTO in LA-Together, Stand for Japan!は、2016年４月におきました熊本地震災害の復興を願って発足しました。災害発生以来、これまでさまざまな支援活動をしてまいりました。同年5月28日、ガーデナの日系企業 MAZAK CORPORATIONのご好意により会場を無料提供していただき支援イベントを開催しました。当イベントでは来場者はボランティアを含め500名にのぼり、13500ドルの義捐金を集めることができ、総額を南加県人会協議会を通じて熊本県庁に送りました。
その後、年末にトーランスの会場で開催した支援セミナー、支援ポトラック、またフラメンコショーや筝曲コンサート,熊本復興支援火の国まつりの会場で募金活動を行い$14,373ドル以上を集め、南加熊本県人会を通じて寄付しました。
LOVE FOR KUMAMOTO IN LAは、発足以来、2023年９月の時点で870万円以上の義損金を被災地に送っており、今後も、熊本の災害を風化させないため、”がんばれ、くまもと！”をスローガンに支援を継続します。

11月15日に熊本県人会の沖田会長とLOVE FOR KUMAMOTO IN LA代表の安藤が熊本県庁を訪問した際、支援活動による募金と県人会に寄せられた本年分の募金1万5千ドルを小野副知事に手渡ししました。小野副知事はロサンゼルス支援者に以下のようなメッセージを述べられました。
「日本各地で災害が続けざまに発生する中、世界中から熊本に復興の手を差し伸べてくださり、心から感謝いたします。地元のみなさんも負けずに頑張っていおられます。2019年は世界ハンドボール選手権開催や熊本城ホール完成など国際イベントも予定されており、多くの方に来ていただければと思います。くまもとはさらに復興が進むよう頑張りますので、引き続きどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。」

In 2021, Mikaela Kai Flamenco Academy, founded by Vice president Michiyo Ando(also known as Mikaela Kai) raised $1500 to the disaster recovery fund through the distribution of the recent online charity flamenco show. The donation was used as a part of the fund for taking place the one year memorial event of the 2021 Kumamoto Hard Rain Disaster in Konose, Kumamoto.
